OK, so it happens. It might be your own fumble fingers, accidentally knocking your cell into the sink of dish water. Or it might be your little one who inadvertently tosses the digital camera into the kiddie pool. The problem? Water + electronic devices = BIG unhappy face. But rest assured, should one of your electronic devices meet water, there is hope for it…

To celebrate the launch of our magazine one year ago, we created a special one-time $1000 scholarship competition.  Grade 12 students from the around the Okanagan were eligible to win a $1000 cash prize towards any kind of post-secondary education. Entrants were required to simply write a brief paragraph describing themselves and their achievements.

We received so many incredible responses and after much deliberation, we are delighted to announce the winner.

Check it out….here’s the cover of our new fall issue that will be available at the end of August!

We’re particularly stoked about this issue as it marks our first anniversary. Yup, Okanagan Child Magazine is turning one!

Some of us are inclined in the kitchen and produce masterpieces, be it appies, entrees or dessert. No matter our ability level, we receive hero status in our little one’s eyes when we whip up a birthday cake with a theme that speaks right to them.

The Summer heat is here and your little one can splash in style with a Monkey Doodlez Swim Diaper!

Tidy Tushees Diaper Service is sponsoring this awesome giveaway. You can even choose your favorite pattern…if you can decide that is.

It’s summertime and the living is easy. What’s not so easy is facing those bulges, rolls, and ripples that are suddenly so much more visible. That’s right. For many women, the proverbial “summertime” blues revolve around swimsuits, shorts, sleeveless tops, and other revealing garments that put the pounds you gained (or failed to lose) last winter on full display. According to Lavinia Rodriguez, what should be a time of joyful abandon has become a season of self-loathing.

Being a mom in our generation is a tough gig. As we stumble along the path of motherhood, injuring our backs, sponging the spit-up off our clothes and constantly wondering “What’s that smell?” who do we turn to for parenting advice? Women used to be surrounded by wise experienced grandmothers, aunties and neighbors who showed them the ropes. These days it’s rare for us to have such close-knit communities and this is why a rookie mom needs her comrades. A fellow mom knows best how challenging the role is. A fellow mom understands that many aspects of raising a little one are anxiety-provoking or confusing. Most importantly a fellow mom will offer honest, down-to-earth advice.
